This is my final poster presentation/reflection for MUED 273's Adaptive instrument project. I am so very thankful to have been a part of this for an entire semester. In the poster, I share important lessons I learned throughout the semester, and ways I can implement these into my daily life as a teacher, and person. I am incredibly grateful for an experience that makes it so sad to say goodbye to! I hope you enjoy my poster! Overall, this project taught me so many things that I can apply to my teaching, and my personal life and interactions with others. The grand overarching lesson that I learned is essentially that everyone, no matter what kinds of abilities they have or adaptations they need, can all make music. This is a very important lesson for everyone to learn, but I think I definitely took that away from this experience. Also, I learned an immense amount of empathy. I quite literally tried to learn as much about one person and their emotions, feelings, and needs for an entire semester. The way I had to think about my client and what she was feeling and needed is something that I have been, and will continue to implement in my daily interactions with others. If we all thought in that way about each other, the world would be such a better place. However, by thinking like that and encouraging my students to think that way, I can start by making my classroom a more empathetic and caring environment! Again, I am so incredibly thankful for this truly life-changing opportunity!
